Journey Through Elegance: The Artistry of Amanda Cox
Amanda Cox is a British Jewellery Designer renowned for her ability to seamlessly blend classicism with uniqueness, drawing inspiration from nature and infusing her creations with semi-retro elements that evoke a sense of familiarity. Amanda’s journey into the world of jewellery Design and making began as a teenager, in her own words: “I always loved creating as a child and became passionate about jewellery making after my sister returned, jewellery clad, from the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970. I made jewellery from ironmongers wire and leather, sold it to school friends and had my first shop order when just a young teenager.”
Formally studying Jewellery and Silversmithing at Plymouth College of Art & Design in the mid-1970s, Amanda immersed herself in the artistry and craftsmanship that would become the hallmark of her work. She then embarked on a professional journey into the Jewellery Trade in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter and then in Hatton Garden, London, where her creativity flourished. By the late 1980s, Amanda had established her first workshop in Hatton Garden and showcased her exquisite pieces at Covent Garden’s Craft Market and an exclusive gallery in Plymouth.
In 1989, Amanda embraced a new role as a lecturer at Plymouth College of Art & Design, where she passed on her knowledge and expertise to jewellery design students until 1998.
